I firmly believe that Rajma Chawal should be declared the national comfort food of India. With all due respect to the dal-Chawal, Idli-dosa and Khichdis, its Rajma Chawal that makes people nostalgic, home-sick and specially mom-sick. Everyone I know, claims that their mom makes the best Rajma Chawal in this world!!! And I totally believe that. That’s the best part about Rajma Chawal. Its simple, duplicable and tastes divine. What more can you ask of a dish?
Here is the recipe-
1 and 1/3 cup Rajma/Kidney Beans
4 cup Water
1 tsp Salt
8 gms Garlic
8 gms organic Ginger
2 small green Chilli
80 gms white Onion
230 gms Tomato
4 tbsp Ghee
1 tsp Jeera/Cumin Seed
2 tsp Salt
2 tbsp and 1 tsp Rajma Masala Powder
Cilantro to garnish
