I have to say that I was quite happy and surprised when Shantala nominated me for this award. Thank you so much Shantala, for doing so! Not only, it is a huge honor and a privilege but is highly motivating for a new blogger!! The questions, apart from being a lot of fun, were introspecting as well. And it’s not everyday that someone asks you to state random facts about yourself.
What is the LIEBSTER Award?
LIEBSTER Award is an award given to motivate and encourage those upcoming bloggers whose blogs you enjoy to read.
Rules:
If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award, and you choose to accept it, you have to write a blog post about the same, in which you-
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Display the award on your blog.
- Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
- Answer 11 questions about yourself (asked by the person who nominated you).
- Nominate 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, and create a new list of questions for the nominees to answer.
I love being part of such encouraging communities where people are rooting for your success and giving you a hand to pull you up rather than a leg to kick you out! I, haven’t had a good experience with fellow food bloggers, yet, when I tried to reach out to them!! So I wish, that just like you, I have a big circle of fellow blogger friends who are willing to give each other a hand. Let’s make this as a random fact #1.
11 Random facts about me –
2. I am a rebel.
3. I love being at home 24/7. I never get tired of it. I don’t crave to step out of the house.
4. I take time opening up to people.
5. I am very outspoken. If you ask my opinion on something, chances are – you will get it.
6. I don’t have a jealous-bone in my body or better to say I haven’t found one yet!
7. The first dish I ever made was ‘Chinese noodles’ which was so bad that my family refused to eat it.
8. Not only did they refuse it, the road side dog refused it too. (Yes, it’s true 🙁 )
9. My parents and siblings still can’t believe that I can make a decent meal. 🙂 My mother, till date, before explaining a complicated recipe, says “Oh it’s too difficult! You won’t be able to make it.”
10. I worked as a Software Engineer for a couple of years and never got bored of it !!!! I actually loved every bit of it!!
11. My husband is my biggest supporter. It was due to his support that my blog saw the light of the day!! Instead of laughing at me, when I first put the idea across him, he said “Let’s get your blog registered!”
My answers to Shantala’s questions:
Why did you start blogging?
I was always passionate about cooking and wanted to do something in that field, someday. My friends and my husband were always encouraging me to start sharing my recipes with everyone. Between Vlogging and Blogging, blogging seemed like a good fit with the kind of chaos that’s going on in my household most days.
How did you come up with your blog name?
When I decided to blog, I did lot of brainstorming sessions with my close friends and out of those sessions, my friend, Mona came up this name and lucky enough, it wasn’t already taken!
Is blogging everything you expected it to be? Or is it different from what you imagined?
To be honest, I didn’t think much about the blogging aspect of ‘Blogging’. My entire focus was on my recipes and camera skills.
What is the one thing you wish you knew before you started to blog?
I wish I had known that what time of the day I prepare a dish, would matter so much. If I make a dish after it gets dark, I can’t use it for pictures because of bad lighting. Not that I would have done anything about it, if I had known it then, but I sure would have appreciated other blogs’ pictures more.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would that be?
I would like to be less emotional in certain situations.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?
Let go!! Hang loose!! Be Wild!! Don’t be too hard on yourself!
What is your biggest obsession?
At this moment, it will have to be cooking good food. 🙂
What is your most prized possession?
My Kitchen aid (professional series) and my Vitamix 🙂
Which blogger would you like to meet in person?
Deb from Smitten Kitchen but then I think I rather not! She might mistake me for a statue!
Which post of yours is your personal favorite? (Please share the link with us)
It will have to be my Thandai recipe. There was nothing similar to it out there, when I posted it. The link is: Kesariya Thandai.
What one piece of advice would you give new writers/ bloggers?
Being new myself, I don’t think I qualify to give any advice to them but If I had to, I would say – There will be times when you will say to yourself “What, in the world, did I get myself into?” but hang in there, it will get BETTER.
I wish I knew an upcoming blogger to nominate for this award. Since I don’t, as of now, I am going to hold on to that!
