As soon as I hear the name “ladoo” my mind starts swirling with scenes from all those movies where a mum packs ladoos for her child who is going away from her. 80% of all movies where a mom’s love has to be communicated through a sweet, it is ladoo. Every student who has ever lived in a hostel, has carried a canister of ladoos through the gates of his (or her) college. It has saved him time and again from the untimely hunger pangs that kick in while burning midnight oil. And of course if yours happened to be a hit among friends, you had to bring twice the amount to cover for them too. These Besan Badam Ladoo have as much almonds in them as sugar. They are very healthy and very delicious.
Here is the recipe-
2 1/2 cup gram flour
1 1/4 cup room temperature ghee
1 1/4 cup almonds
1/4 cup char magaz or melon seeds
2 tbsp. milk
1/4 cup almonds soaked in water and then peeled and sliced finely
3/4 cup plus 1/8 cup sugar
2 generous pinch of cardamom powder
10 pistachios sliced (optional)
